Sadeqa Johnson, a former public relations manager, spent several years working with well-known authors such as JK Rowling, Bebe Moore Campbell, Amy Tan and Bishop TD Jakes. Her debut novel, Love in a Carry-on Bag is the recipient of the 2012 USA Best Book award for African-American fiction. Love has been nominated for the 2013 QBR Wheatley book award and the 2013 AAMBC award for best Romance. It was selected as a Black Expressions Book club alternate pick, OOSA Book club top pick for 2012 and a Conversations with Cyrus Webbs best 100 book for 2012. Her short story will be featured in ReShonda Tate Billingsley’s highly anticipated novel, The Motherhood Diaries (Strebor Books, April 2013). An inner peace advocate, Sadeqa Johnson is a meditation teacher, public speaker and motivational blogger.
Originally from Philadelphia, she currently resides in the New York metro area with her husband and three children. Her sophomore novel, Second House From the Corner is scheduled to be released in 2013.
